Create New Project

Overview

With Next Design, you can start modeling immediately by creating a new project using the prepared profiles.

The following describes the procedure from creating a new project with a specified profile to starting model editing in the following order.

  • Create a new project
  • Prepare your first model

Create a new project

First, obtain the profile (.iprof file) to be used in advance, or check the file storage path of the profile. Then, to create a new project, follow the steps below from the Start page of Next Design.

Operating procedure

  1. Click the Start> Create New Project link to display the Create New Project dialog.
  2. Enter a Project Name and, optionally, an Overview.
  3. Click the [...] button of [Profile] and specify the profile to be used.
  4. Click the [Create] button to create a new project and start editing.

Info

  • A profile is required to create a model. To create a new profile, go to Quick Start> Profile Definition.

  • You can also create a new project with the same profile by exporting the profile from an existing project. For details, refer to [Profile Definition Guide]> [Profile Management]> [Publish Profile].

Prepare the first model

Immediately after creating a new project, only one project is displayed at the top of the model navigator. To start editing the model, add the first model from the model navigator as follows:

Operating procedure

  1. Right-click the project on the model navigator, and click the entity to add from [Add Model] in the context menu.
  2. One model is added under the project, and when you select the model, you can edit the model.

  • The entities that can be added directly under the project depend on the profile.
